Angolan Service Provider Angoltec Expands Local Modular and Steel Engineering Capabilities

Angolan service provider Angoltec is strengthening its role in the country’s oil, gas, and infrastructure sectors by expanding its locally manufactured modular and steel engineering solutions. In an interview with Energy Capital & Power at the Angola Oil & Gas 2025 conference and exhibition, Pedro Serrenho, the company’s Regional Director for Africa, emphasized how Angoltec’s “Made in Angola” approach is driving flexible, client-specific projects while adhering to international standards.

Serrenho shared insights into Angoltec’s operational model and how it differentiates itself from other market solutions. He explained, “We don’t build solutions; we adapt solutions to our clients. We see what our clients need and are flexible. We also have the capability to engineer certain projects, build projects, and adapt them to our clients.”

Headquartered in Luanda, Angoltec manufactures equipment and steel structures, including modular units, fuel stations, storage tanks, and steel frameworks. The company also converts maritime containers into modular buildings such as offices, commercial spaces, and homes, offering customization in finishes, insulation, and configuration.

Angoltec has been advancing its modular construction line, improving design and finishes. “The latest challenge we faced was with finishes,” explained Serrenho. “It’s about adding a touch of architecture so it doesn’t feel like you’re inside a container. We want people to feel comfortable with the product they’re given, without adding extra costs.”

Angoltec’s manufacturing operations are entirely based in Angola, with 92% of its workforce composed of Angolan employees. “Manufacturing in Angola doesn’t mean [producing] differently,” stated Serrenho, adding that “the standard is the same, but we take pride in manufacturing here with our staff and our capability.”

As part of the Petrotec Group, Angoltec benefits from additional engineering and commercial support. “The group gives us flexibility in creative and commercial terms,” explained Serrenho. “We have their support when creating something new and benefit from the expertise of our employees who have worked in Angola and abroad.”
