Seismic acquisition company BGP Geophysical Lda (BGP) has won a contract from energy company Corcel to conduct a 2D seismic acquisition program across Block KON 16 in Angola. The program aims to advance subsurface prospectivity in support of upcoming drilling activities planned for 2026.
Secured through a competitive bidding process, the contract comprises 326- line km of 2D seismic data acquisition across the onshore block. Data acquisition is expected to start in Q4, 2025, with processing commencing in Ql, 2026 and results expected in Q2, 2026. The anticipated dataset complements
143-line km of existing seismic at the block ~ acquired in 2010 – and will provide a 227% increase in seismic coverage.
“The seismic acquisition campaign has been designed to complement the geological model established by the team. By integrating legacy seismic data with historical well information and the 2024 eFTG data, we are confident that the forthcoming acquisition will identify and support several drilling opportunities within KON-16,” stated Richard Lane, COO at Corcel.
