Eni Foundation and Eni Natural Energies (ENE) Angola have signed two MoUs with Angola’s Ministry of Health to support pediatric healthcare development and hospital coordination in the country.
The first MoU ~ signed by Silvia Lutucuta, Minister of Health, Angola and Domenico Giani, President, Eni Foundation – outlines a three-year initiative to enhance neonatal and pediatric intensive care services.
The program will focus on the Maternal and Child Hospital of Azancot in Luanda, training at least 200 healthcare professionals ~ including 50 doctors and 150 nurses. The program aims to establish the hospital as a referral center for the provinces of Luanda, Benguela, Huambo and Huila.
Training will be conducted locally and in Italy, with telemedicine services such a second medical opinions, webinars and teleconsultations integrated into the program. Medical equipment will also be provided to support specialized neonatal and cardiological care.
The second MoU, led by ENE Angola in partnership with Italy’s Giannina Gaslini Institute, covers the development of a digital platform to improve hospital coordination across Luanda. The system aims to balance patient loads and enhance diagnostics, treatment and follow-up care.
The agreements were signed in the presence of Filippo Uberti, Secretary General, Eni Foundation; Joao Maria da Silva, Managing Director, ENE Angola; and Manuela Mendes, Director of the Maternal and Child Hospital, Azancot Hospital.
