The Agogo FPSO is preparing to sail from China to Angola’s Block 15/06. Forming part of the Agogo Integrated West Hub Development, the addition of the Agogo FPSO will increase Block 15/06’s production by 120,000 barrels per day, with operations set to start in late-2025
The Agogo FPSO – completed six months ahead of schedule ~ features a combined cycle power generation unit; advanced electrification and digital automation; a seawater-driven turbine generator and a vapor recovery unit to eliminate flaring. Additionally, the facility features the world’s first carbon capture and storage unit, making it an energy-efficient and low-emission vessel
“The Agogo Integrated Project reflects Angola’s strategic vision for partnerships that prioritize technology transfer, local content development and environmental management. Critical components of this project were manufactured in Angolan shipyards — a concrete demonstration of our commitment to strengthening the local industry and promoting self-sufficiency,” José Barroso, Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, Angola said in a statement.
Block 15/06 is operated by international energy company Azule Energy alongside its partners Angolan national oil company (NOC) Sonangol E&P, Chinese oil and gas enterprise Sinopec and Namibian NOC Namcor. The block features the Agogo and Ndungu fields as well as the operational Ngoma FPSO.
“The completion of the Agogo FPSO with several months ahead of the established timeline underscores the project execution capabilities of Azule Energy and the perfect synergy among all stakeholders. This milestone maximises reserves in Block 15/06, including the tails of the mature fields of the area, but realizes it rapidly and cost-effectively,” added Adriano Mongini, CEO, Azule Energy.
