Etu Energias plans to produce 50,000 barrels of oil per day

Edson dos Santos, speaking to the press on the sidelines of the certificate awarding ceremony for 220 young graduates who successfully completed technical and professional courses at the Soyo Polytechnic Institute (IPS), stated that Etu Energias is focused on profitable and sustainable growth by investing in human capital, in addition to digital technologies.

Edson dos Santos, who is also a petroleum engineer, explained that the name change from Somoil to Etu Energias was intended to honor renewable energies, as in the past, the Angolan operator was focused on crude oil exploration.

The chairman of Etu Energias said that the Angolan oil company is undergoing a transformation process and intends to convert thermal sources to renewable energies, up to 70 percent, in its operations by installing solar panels.

“We have several projects in the country. For example, the replacement of diesel electric generators with solar panels is underway,” he explained, assuring that the process involves not only acquiring and positioning new oil blocks but also exploring, developing, and producing oil.

Fuel Stations

Edson dos Santos assured that the construction of fuel stations across the country is imminent, as part of the company’s strategic program to expand its activities to the petroleum derivatives distribution sector.

Regarding the environmental preservation program, the manager stated that it is a priority for the company. He assured that, in the past two years, Etu Energias replaced 80 kilometers of obsolete crude oil transportation pipelines to mitigate the environmental impact.

“Our company is the only operator in the country with operations close to residential areas, so we have been focusing on safety and environmental protection,” he said, adding that Etu Energias has reduced gas flaring by 40 percent on its oil platforms, with the goal of complete elimination within the next five years.
